Everything TikTok Made Me Buy That Was Worth Every Penny

I had this idea a while ago to talk about everything TikTok made me buy (that was worth every penny) once I realized how frequently TikTok influenced my spending. Once I started compiling a list of all the purchases I made because of videos I saw on TikTok, I was slightly horrified. I’ve purchased a lot more than I thought; almost everything I’ve bought online since March had to do with TikTok. At one point, I almost went to Michael’s to buy yarn to crochet a bag because I saw so many videos of checkered and flower-filled crochet bags. And I have no idea how to crochet.

So as you can see, TikTok holds quite an influence over me. But instead of us all being concerned about the power TikTok has over me, we are going to benefit from it and talk about recommendations that everyone needs! Because trust me when I say this, the things I’ve purchased because of TikTok have genuinely amazed me.

Clothes from Aerie

I’ve shopped from Aerie previously and had luck with their leggings and yoga pants, but I never tried buying anything else…until TikTok (obviously). I felt like I was seeing a million girls sharing their Aerie hauls, and they always looked too cute not to buy. This girl absolutely sold me on these pants and shorts, thus I purchased the shorts and the cropped pants mentioned in this video in a few colors because I love them that much. These two pieces have genuinely changed my every day wardrobe because:

1. I have never owned shorts that fit me so well and are comfortable and cute at the same time – I wear them every other day now!
2. The pants make it feel as if I’m wearing sweatpants but they look neater at the same time if that makes sense?

Overall, 10/10, I recommend everything from Aerie, especially these pieces. For reference, I got an XXS in both, and I’m 5′ with a 27″ inseam.

Too Many Books

If you don’t read (for enjoyment) then you most likely haven’t heard of BookTok, let alone are on it. BookTok is a massive fanbase of readers who recommend, review, and share their opinions about everything book-related. If you read my first book club meeting back in February, then you know that BookTok actually got me out of a reading slump by recommending fantastic books.

Every book I’ve read and purchased since November has been a recommendation from TikTok—I don’t even have to search for books to read anymore! 12 books later (yes, 12*), and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them all. (Almost all of them can be seen in the image of my bookcase above, in case you were wondering which books I was persuaded to buy!) The best book recommendation I’ve received so far was A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, I finished all five books of the series in six weeks.

Gua Sha

I heard about gua shas a few months ago on my FYP; they’re flat stones used in Chinese Medicine to shape the face by pushing the lymphatic fluid out of your face towards your temple. Sounds gross, I know, but it does wonders for your face. They’ve become super popular because people are returning with defined bone structures and sharp jawlines after continuously using them, and the results are pretty insane. I knew I needed to try one out!

I have seen a slight difference in the shape of my face, but I’ve really seen a change in my acne! Gua shas not only benefit your face shape but hormonal acne and aging as well. I can’t speak on the aging just yet, but it seems as if my acne hasn’t been popping up as much as usual, which is always good news in my world. Also, it just feels really relaxing to use a gua sha on your face.

Abercrombie Jeans

These jeans have totally changed my negative perspective on denim; I finally feel like I’m part of the jean-wearing club. I’ve never felt so confident and comfortable in a pair of jeans. The ones I recommend the most are the Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jeans, they were worth every penny and I own them in three washes now.

Initial Earrings

This was a super recent purchase! Amazon Prime Day took place last week, so I went to TikTok to find some worthy recommendations that were part of the sale. I ended up finding this video and loved everything she bought. I purchased the initial earrings she had on, but with an “L” instead (obviously), and I’m obsessed with them! I couldn’t recommend these more, they’re the perfect size and even compliment a boring outfit like sweats. I kid you not, I’ve worn these every day since I got them in the mail.

Vera Bradley Duffel Bag

I am not a fan of Vera Bradley, or I should say I wasn’t a fan of Vera Bradley. Vera Bradley bags were insanely popular in the 2010s, pretty much every girl in my class in middle school and elementary school had a Vera Bradley backpack and duffel bag for sleepovers. I never loved the patterns so I avoided the brand entirely, but they were so expensive that it didn’t matter anyway. Most of the people who had those bags, still have them now, because they’re known to last forever. And after I saw this TikTok, I kid you not, I ran to the Vera Bradley website.

I went from ignoring Vera Bradley’s bags to absolutely needing one. And don’t you think I recently lost my 7-year old (free) Victoria’s Secret duffel bag the week before and now need a new duffel? Now that I have adult money, I picked out the cutest pattern I could find, and bought it! (Here is the exact one I bought.) Worth every dollar, go buy it right now, I’m not joking. I’m a major over-packer, and this bag understands that. It understood the assignment. Just look at the pattern and color combo?! I’m absolutely in love.
