I struggle every year searching for bikinis when the summer comes around. They’re always way too expensive for not enough material – it’s absolutely absurd. I’d rather just spend my money on a pair of jeans instead. Bathing suit shopping is just so unbearable. And when you’re not very confident, like mwah, it makes it even harder. Shopping for swimwear as a female is extremely hard because of the unrealistic female beauty and body standards forcing women to feel like their bodies aren’t enough. And because of hormones, menstruation and medication like birth control, women’s bodies are constantly changing too – which means constant bathing suit shopping.

Therefore, it’s super important to find something you’re comfortable and confident in.
In recent years, the most popular retailers targeted towards Millenials and Gen Z sell bikinis that don’t cover much. The string bikini bottoms (AKA, thong bikini bottoms) have been a major style trend because of models like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner wearing them on Instagram. And it makes sense because those bikinis are super cute! However, if you’re like me, then you may not feel comfortable showing a lot of skin, especially around family and friends during the summer.
I’ve searched high and low for non-scary bikinis that will always be flattering. And I’ve tried tons of popular retailers from Target to Pacsun and dealt with horrible sizing, so you can trust me. Therefore, I’m sharing with you where to buy cute, modest-friendly bikinis for the summer. This way if you don’t love one-pieces, but want the option to wear a bikini and feel covered, cute and comfortable, I got you!
Abercrombie & Fitch
Abercrombie & Fitch came out of left field for me. I always associated them with their early 2000’s logo tees and male models plastered everywhere. However, they have really evolved as a company, from their brand identity to their products. I struggle the most with finding bikini bottoms – I swear bottoms always fit me horribly. Until I bought my first bikini from Abercrombie this year, and it was a gift from God himself. (I included an image of it at the top of the post.) It has become my favorite bikini! It’s adjustable in the waist and is extremely comfortable to wear because it’s high-leg and slightly high-rise. Go get yourself one!

Aerie
Aerie has been my go-to place for bikinis for years. They’re always on sale, offer so many sizes and styles, and ship quickly. I can always rely on them to have cute tops that are reliable for swimming and running in. Quick disclaimer though, their tops run small, so I recommend going up one to two sizes from your regular size.
Old Navy
I’ve purchased clothing at Old Navy before, but never swimsuits. But they offer a ton of great bikini options! Who would’ve thought?! They offer several different necklines, depending on your style of choice, as well as bottoms for comfort. And everything’s on sale.
Anthropologie
I’ve always envied Anthropologie for its beautiful home decor and dreamy dresses. And their bikinis are just as chic and dreamy, of course. Their options are definitely on the pricey side, but if you’re looking for just a couple bikinis that will last forever, then they’re worth it.
H&M
H&M offers so much it’s crazy, especially when it comes to swimwear. I struggle with companies like Princess Polly and Pacsun when it comes to bikini shopping because they offer one style – string bikinis that don’t cover much. H&M offers several options to accommodate all preferences and body types. (And they offer tons of cute styles and colors.)

A quality swimwear will also help you stay comfortable while you’re swimming. You won’t have to worry about it slipping or riding up when you’re in the water.
