Summer Outfits that Give a Summer in Italy Aesthetic

Now none of us are actually spending our summers in Italy—unless you are, which, in that case, we’re all incredibly jealous of you. But for those of us who aren’t, we can dream, can’t we? I definitely will, specifically from my backyard with my Booktok book recommendation in hand. In a dress that will only see the light of day in an Instagram picture and not the coast of Italy. *Silently cries in broke.* However, that won’t stop me from living my coastal grandma life in my summer outfits (that give a summer in Italy aesthetic). So for a moment, we are going to pretend that we’re all vacationing in Italy with our European wardrobes.

Casual Mini & Midi Dresses

I may be 5’1″ but I will not succumb to dealing with dresses that do not suit me. Especially if I want to live out my summer in Italy aesthetic dreams. I do not care if I look like Dora the Explorer—summer is the perfect time for a dress. They can be dressed up and down, and always look effortless. My go-to stores for petite options on dresses are Princess Polly and Abercrombie.

Tiny Tops & Shorts

Say it with me: tiny tops never fail. Bralettes, bikini tops, tank tops—they all work. Throw on a comfortable pair of shorts, paint your nails, and add some rings, and you have yourself a yacht look.

Overalls

TikTok is the sole problem for my shopping addiction. I thought I was getting over it, but then, it happened again: several girls on my For You Page wearing overalls. Therefore, I bought the overalls! That may not have been the best financial move at the end of my semester. However, I had a coupon and I now look like Rachel Green. Or Bob the Builder in Italy vibes, either works.

Trousers & Tanks

The best part about trousers is they are functional and fashionable in every single season. It simply all depends upon the way you style them. Therefore, if you tend to struggle with purchasing dress pants and trousers, I am constantly recommending Aritizia, for both quality and fit.

Linen, Linen, Linen

You just cannot go wrong with a button-down and linen pants. When you’re unsure of what to wear in the summer weather, either throw on a button-down or linen pants. You’ll look like the rich coastal grandma of the season on her way to her Airbnb in Italy.

Matching Sets

Tell me this isn’t the most “Summer in Italy Aesthetic” outfit you’ve ever seen. Meanwhile, it’s not only a matching set—which always works—but it includes a midi skirt and a halter top. Midi skirts and halter tops are two pieces that are timeless. Simply purchase those pieces in lighter colors to correspond with the spring and summer, and add sandals. Then you’ll look more fashionable than Kendall Jenner on a Friday night.
