I have an almost unhealthy love for fashion because of how much it hurts my bank account. Between wanting to buy new shoes, dresses, pants, or accessories, all because I saw a cute outfit on Pinterest or Instagram. But can you blame me? Seeing celebrities online and on tv in ’70s inspired pantsuits and European dresses make it insanely hard to not love fashion.
I took a deep dive into my fashion archives on Pinterest and put a list together of my favorite female fashion icons. These are women in Hollywood whose styles I worship the most and would die to own their closets. While I know that the most influential fashionistas in the world consist of icons like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Audrey Hepburn, and many others. I tailored this list to myself — women whose fashion I aspire to mirror.
Fran Drescher

If you have ever seen The Nanny, then you probably know of Fran’s iconic outfits throughout the show. Fran Drescher, who plays Fran Fine, has amazing style and a great wardrobe, but her style in The Nanny is what first comes to mind when I think of the actress. The 90’s fashion in the show, in my opinion, has stood the test of time in a constantly changing environment of evolving trends. In the show, Fran is known for her risque style, always dressed in heels, mini skirts, and bold patterns. Her outfits could easily be seen on runways and in stores today because of how fashionably simple and iconic her outfits truly are. If you’re interested in more of the behind-the-scenes on how Fran’s outfits were put together, I highly recommend this article here!

Honestly, Rihanna needs no explanation, have you seen her outfits in the past decade? Rihanna has great looks anywhere from the city streets, to movie premieres, to the met gala, serving looks everywhere. She has not only built several successful companies but influenced fashion in a way that she can make anything look cohesive together. I love her street style, especially how feminine she can make masculine clothes look. Her met gala looks have made every “Best Dressed” list since the year she was invited, because of the bold and unique statement she manages to always make amongst hundreds of other celebrities.

I absolutely love everything about Jennifer Aniston, from her movies to her personality, and her style, especially in the ’90s. Can you tell I’m a sucker for 90’s fashion yet? Jennifer Aniston influenced everything in the ’90s, from the sitcom and movies everyone watched to the clothes women wanted and the way women cut their hair. Like Fran in The Nanny, Rachel Green in Friends is a style icon fashion lovers still envy. Rachel Green’s love for luxury and fashion was definitely showcased in her outfits in each episode as well. Jennifer Aniston and Rachel Green made fashion in the ’90s admirable even three decades later.

Not only am I obsessed with Blake Lively’s marriage with Ryan Reynolds, and her shows and movies, but her fashion as well. Blake Lively is another celebrity who is a fashion icon both in the Hollywood scene and on tv. She is well known for her masculine looks styled in a feminine way. Often wearing pantsuits, sometimes topless under her blazer, or styled with high heels or booties and a purse. Anywhere she’s photographed could be made into a magazine cover because she dresses that well. Serena Van Der Woodsen, from Gossip Girl, is just as fashionable too. Anything Serena wore in the show was a luxurious statement, and on top of trends.

My love for Zendaya is as strong as my love for One Direction, and that says a lot. But who doesn’t love Zendaya? She’s an amazing actress, activist, singer, and dancer, is there anything she can’t do? Her fashion choices over the years have gotten better and better, becoming more unique and bold with every Hollywood event. She can literally pull anything off, making every Instagram post into a magazine cover, and any sidewalk into a red carpet. Her style reached a level of influence that even Tommy Hilfiger could not ignore, thus the two collaborated on a ’70s inspired collection that is to die for (pictured in the middle). Zendaya’s sense of style is elevated and sexy while also remaining sophisticated. She is one of the most influential fashion icons that represent the epitome of high-end.

Dakota Johnson’s style is actually what inspired me to write this post. I have a love for finding fashionable women in movies, and Dakota Johnson was one of them. Her style in 50 Shades Freed is extremely elevated, and not just because of her Louboutin heels. Her character in the film, Anastasia Grey, works a high position job and she definitely dresses like it. I have always shied away from work and business fashion, but her wardrobe in the film makes you want a job in business. From the matching blazer and pencil skirts to the high-waisted dress pants and heels, every outfit was sexy, yet classy. Her stylish looks extend outside the movie as well, though. Her outfits range anywhere from athleisure to casual-chic to luxe, and I love them all. She even makes bangs look great – almost enough to convince me to want them.
I absolutely admire and love all of these women, their fashion sense persuades me to dress in a way that makes a statement and brings confidence. If you have different fashion icons that you admire I would love it if you comment them below, I’m really interested! If you want to see more looks from my favorite icons or other fashion moguls I love, I added my Pinterest board below. I plan to write a post on my favorite male fashion icons soon, so if that’s something you’re interested in, subscribe to be notified! ♡
