Are you tired of spending all your money on bathing suits for the summer, only to put one of your old Disney princess towels around you to cover it up? Me too! I feel like I’m at a constant loss as to what to wear to the beach over my bathing suit because I feel like I have no clothes made for the beach. I end up staring at my closet thirty separate times just to end up putting on a pair of running shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops.
Don’t get me wrong, that is one of the comfiest outfits around, but sometimes, I rely on an outfit that will boost my self-esteem and make me feel good about myself. I went to Pinterest (like the average person would do, of course) and picked out a variety of Instagram-able cute beach outfits. This way, you may realize how useful that mini skirt in the back of your closet may be, or recognize some pieces you want to buy for the summer.
Midi Skirts + T – Shirt
I am in love with this look, because it’s not only fashionable but functional! Midi skirts are a great happy medium when you don’t want to wear shorts, but also don’t want to wear full-length pants. And this look is insanely easy to recreate because who doesn’t own a t-shirt already? Copy the look below!
Rompers
I am not a dress kinda girl, so rompers are what I turn to. They are so effortless, rompers make you look put together, even though you didn’t have to put any work in. They are also insanely comfortable and perfect to throw on over a bikini on the beach. Copy the look below!
Wide-Leg Pants + Bandeau
Wide leg pants are such an amazing statement piece to make your outfit pop. They suit every body type, and they are super comfortable and easy to throw on over a swimsuit. Pair them with a fitted top like a bandeau, or just your swimsuit top! Copy this look below!

Button Downs
Button downs over a swimsuit are one of the simplest looks on this list. I love this look because it takes a typical masculine top and makes it very feminine. It also looks like you’re on a European vacation, and who doesn’t want that? Copy the look below (I recommend buying the top a little oversize so you can play with the style)!
Co-ords/Sets
Co-ords/sets are growing greatly in popularity and becoming a huge trend. If you don’t know what a co-ord is, it’s a two-piece set that is matching or “coordinates.” There are several benefits to owning a set; you often pay less because you’re buying two pieces together rather than separately, you look insanely stylish without the effort, and you can mix-match the pieces to make several outfits. Sets are a great option for a beach outfit, copy the looks below!
Overall Shorts
Overalls started to come back in style a few years ago, but I honestly haven’t been able to take part in the trend because I’m just too short. However, overall shorts have been my saving grace. I love my overall shorts, they look so cute with any type of top: sweaters, t-shirts, tube tops, and in this case, bikini tops! Copy the look below!
Bikini Wrap/Cover-Up
Bikini wraps were super popular in the early 2000s, however, they are finally coming back. They’re a super easy and affordable outfit addition, without fully covering your swimsuits. They are offered in a variety of lengths, patterns, and materials. I tagged some below!
t-shirt + bikini bottoms
This is a beach outfit look that works for anyone, because who doesn’t own a t-shirt that they like! For this look, I recommend wearing an oversized shirt that has a graphic on it, it can make for a cute Instagram photo. Don’t own any graphic tees? Here are some affordable ones below!
Oversized Sweater + Bikini Bottoms
Summer is awesome, don’t get me wrong, however, I miss my hoodies and sweaters. So this beach outfit idea is my excuse to wear my sweaters and hoodies. However, this outfit isn’t just for me! It’s not only comforting, but super functional for those beach nights where the weather cools down tremendously. I found some sweaters below just in case you need some!
