Summer is debatably the hardest season to dress for. It’s just something about the beaming sun and humid air that ruins every outfit. I feel that I’m constantly opting for gym shorts and a tank and calling it a day because Pinterest’s “summer outfit ideas” are unattainable. They always consist of pieces I don’t have in my closet or that I cannot afford. Hence, why I’m sharing easy summer outfit ideas that you already have in your closet. This way you don’t need to stress over whether or not you have the clothing in your closet for certain looks, because these outfits are composed of simple basics. At least one of these outfit ideas will be sitting in the back of your closet already.

Mini Dresses and White Sneakers
I’m not someone who would ever wear a mini dress unless it’s for an event or special occasion. But the mini dress and sneaker combination is the perfect outfit formula. White sneakers are a simple way to turn a dress into a casual piece. You’ll not only look put together and Pinterest-esque, but cool in hot weather!
High-Neck Tanks and Mid-Length Shorts
I have been against mid-length shorts for a very long time, but the more I’ve seen them on my Instagram feed, the more I like them. Mid-length shorts are an easy way to get behind a current trend and be comfortable. Throw on a simple high-neck tank top with denim shorts and you’ll look like a 90s Jennifer Anniston.
Airy Button Downs and Bralettes
The great thing about button-downs and bralettes is how simple they are. Who doesn’t have a bralette and button-down? We see them on celebrities often because they’re effortlessly chic. And if the pictures above don’t prove to you how stylish this combo can be, check out Emily Ratajkowski‘s look here. Button downs are key because they’re light, making them ideal for warmer weather. But you can go for a cardigan instead, as Hailey Baldwin does here.

Midi Dresses and Mules
I’ve never favored long dresses, mostly because I’m 5ft so they make me look like I’m swimming in fabric. However, midi dresses are a whole new game. They cut right under the knee, at about mid-calf, and come in several different styles. Thus, if you’re not one for a mini dress, midi dresses will be your new best friend, and are worth adding to your closet if they’re not already there.
Straight Jeans and Strappy Sandals
I love a good pair of straight jeans – I’m very anti-skinny jean. Straight jeans flatter every body type and work for every occasion. Jeans and strappy sandals/heels, with a fitted tank top, make for the perfect summer night outfit for date nights or dinner with friends.
Cotton Tops and Shorts
Who would’ve thought that loungewear would become such a go-to outfit? Well, I guess the pandemic knew… Everyone owns sweats and clothes to lounge in, the key is how you go about putting those pieces together. Try using pieces that are the same color – monochrome always works. Throw on a hat or sunglasses, and add a purse, and you’ll look like a celebrity on vacation.
